Candles & weddings

I just love candles! And to me, a wedding wouldn’t be complete without them. Not only do they enhance the mood, but they’re also a very cost-effective way of dressing up a room or space. And when it comes down to candles, the more, the better! A vast quantity of candles can look dramatic and set the scene, especially if you alternate sizes and containers.

Although you can find some cheap glass tea light holders and candelabras from many places including Wilkinson and Asda, make sure you use good quality candles with a burning time of 8 hours. Also, stay clear off scented candles, which can be overwhelming and conflict with the natural scents of flowers and food.

As well as regularly keeping on eye on street shops such as Debenhams and Ikea for good bargains and ideas, I must admit that one of my favourite online shop when it comes down to beautiful and good quality candles and holders is the Nordic House (www.nordichouse.co.uk). I also enjoy browsing Grehom at www.grehom.com for novelty pieces and striking recycled glass holders.  The one thing for certain with candles is that from the humble tea light to the oversized lanterns, no matter what your theme or style, or budget, there is a candle that will be perfect for you.
